There are many vulnerabilities and some of the ways of fixing the problem will be upgrading to a higher version of Windows Server and IIS. Plus Microsoft stopped supporting Server I think we will have to go from to , to , and then to ?
Is this the only way? It\’s bit. It can\’t be upgraded. Server R2 and newer only come in bit versions. There is no upgrade path from bit to bit. I highly doubt you would attempt that on a home computer, so why consider it for a production server? Instead, come up with a migration strategy that involves building out 1 or more servers and migrating domain roles, server roles, applications and files over.
You also need to consider replacing the hardware, as anything running server is beyond end of life and highly unlikely to support a newer OS very well if at all.

I would not do all those OS in-place upgrades like that personally. Just get a new OS VM installed with Server , start getting everything configured and tested from it and look over the production VMs until you get the migration environment tested, and then figure out what all you need to change for it to take over as production when you are ready e.
Instead of replacing it. But I was wrong, it is not as simple as I thought it would be. And Replace is the way to go. MarijuanaTechnologyIT, I see, thanks for all these information.

I recently asked a question about upgrading from to , but i realised this is a lot harder to do, the only reason i want to upgrade is to have increase the RAM. So basically i need to do an in-place upgrade to either Enterpirse or Datacentre without losing any data is this possible?
Also is one easier to upgrade to then the other? You can\’t do an in-place upgrade from one edition to another, and even if you found a hack that claimed to allow it they exist, at least for NT4 and Win2K using it would put your server in an unsupported state which is why I\’m not providing any more info. What you need to do is backup data and apps, reinstall Windows and anything else you need, then restore. Sign up to join this community. The best answers are voted up and rise to the top.
